Temple of Hekate

Cost $10 to $15
We can only accommodate 20 attendees.
RSVP by calling the Raven’s Wing and reserving your space (503) 946-8951

At the Dark of the Moon, we gather to honor the Queen of the Witches, Hekate. Come and face your shadows as we explore Her mysteries, and invite Her transformative magic into our life.

This month, we will be working with the Strophalos. Also known as Hekate's Wheel, the Strophalos is symbolic of Hekate Triformis, Hekate of Three Forms. It is also seen as the labyrinth of life, and all of the twists and turns life throws at us. It is the axis of the three ways. It is Her dominion of Earth, Sea and Sky. It is Hekate as the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. It is where the three roads meet. It is She, who is keeper of the Under World, the Middle World, and the Upper World.

We will be creating wooden altar pieces with the symbol of the Strophalos. They can be used as devotion to Hekate, to charge your tools, or as a source of energy (a wheel/spinning object).

To honor the energy of the Circle, we will not be accepting guests more than five minutes after ritual begins.

Are you drawn to crystals and the secrets they contain, hoping to learn to harness their power for attraction, protection, and ultimately, transformation? Throughout history, we have used crystals and gemstones combined with metals, wood, and other natural items for just those purposes. We call them Talismans, magical items used avert harm and bring good fortune.

Over 5 consecutive Tuesdays, we will unlock those secrets and create a personal talisman. The first 3 weeks we will explore the many facets of crystals and gemstones to consider when designing a talisman, from color to structure to composition. The last 2 weeks will find us crafting a talismans based on what we learned in the first 3 classes (cost of supplies will depend on the design of your magical item).

Each class will build off what was learned in the previous class, so regular attendance is highly recommended. Our final session will meet on the Full Moon, Friday the 13th of September for a Consecration Ritual, attendance optional for this final get together. If you have any questions, please email the instructor at dogwood.wizard@neargood.net

Tarot-Chi: Using Tarot as a Diagnostic Tool for the Energetic Body

With Rev. Neargood, the Dogwood Wizard
$10-20 suggested donation

Throughout its history, Tarot has been a parlor game, a means of divination and a tool for introspection and individuation.  In this seminar, we will introduce a new use for the Tarot- as a diagnostic tool to give our Chi a check-up!

Utilizing a brief visualization meditation, we can energetically connect, or entangle, our Chi with the deck.  The cards we then draw reveal where the flow maybe at an imbalance or impeded. We then can draw cards for practical solutions as well as revelations about the nature of the congestion. This seminar will walk you through the steps and give you time to practice as well.

Sometimes you may just feel out of sorts… why not come join us to learn a new Tarot-technique that can help you restore a sense of balance, and that you can then use to help others!  All you’ll need is your tarot deck and a desire to learn.

Putting Things By - Canning Workshop sponsored by Brighde's Sanctuary

Pre-registration required with $25 deposit due at time of registration.
Class limit: 12 attendees, minimum: 6 attendees.
Fee: $75, includes all supplies.

Haven’t you always wanted to know how to make your own seasonal jams and jellies?

Create your own hearth magic and capture the best of your garden or farmers market to enjoy throughout the year. As a bonus, with homemade conserves you also have complete control over the quality of ingredients, combinations of flavors, and amount of sugar you use. Once you’ve had homemade jam, you’ll never want to go back to store-bought again (even the fancy stuff)!

Join the priestesses of Brighde’s Sanctuary for a 4+ hour workshop in the fundamentals of water-bath canning and learn skills you can apply to your own creative endeavors. Plus you get to take home jam!

The process will take approximately four hours (we may run slightly longer; you may wish to pick up your jam at the end of the day so it has a chance to cool and set before moving).

Bring a notebook to write down your favorite recipe ideas and technical notes; the type of jam we create depends upon what is abundantly available at the farmers market that morning. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have gained hands-on experience and an afternoon spent laughing and making kitchen magic with a group of green witches!

Water is sacred; it holds within it the magic of transformation and is needed to create and sustain life. This class will take an in-depth look at how our European ancestors held water as sacred. We will dive deep into the lore and magic of the Celts and their ancestors. We will discuss a variety of different types of water bodies from the Sea and Rivers to Bogs and Lakes. We will also discuss the spirits that dwell within the water such as Lake Ladies, Water Fae and Water Gods and Goddess associated with the sacred lands of the Celts. We will then dive deep into the realms of Thermal Springs as we discuss Sulis Minerva the Solar Goddess of the Thermal Springs in Bath UK, known for Healing.

We will finish the class with a hands-on ritual connecting with spring water, and honoring Sulis. Each attendant will receive a small vial of water from her sacred spring to take home for personal use.

Pulling Spirit with Tommie StarChild

$25 per person, register by calling the shop at (503) 946-8951

The art and craft of magic and witchery have become one of the fastest growing religious/spiritual practices over the last decade. Many books are written on the subject of how to, and classes can be found all over the world. One thing that is often not found is the foundational practice vital to working the craft. Pulling Spirit takes a look at the deep mystery of calling up one’s own spirit, what is our spirit, and why this is vital to all magic work. We will discuss the dampers on the spirit and how these create false masks that deceive others and ourselves. We will learn diagnostic tools to recognize these imbalances and how to realign. Pulling Spirit is a powerful practice and the basis by which all other magic work is formed.

Tommie StarChild is a spirit worker, witch, and an initiate in the Anderson Feri mystery tradition. He was born with his faerie companions (Simms), gifted with spirit sight, and comes from a family of conjure workers. StarChild has been a practicing witch since 1991, started studying Anderson Feri in 1998, and was initiated into the Elenkin lineage of the tradition in 2003. He is an accomplished witch, an initiated priest, and a professional spirit worker/conjure man.
